    Charitable Impact

    The Charitable Impact’s platform enables the transfer of charitable funds from a funder to an deciding donor, such as a class or group of student, so that they can easily allocate their charitable dollars with the time and reflection needed to make a conscious choice.

    They maintain a list of registered charities in Canada that students can choose to donate to. This list is organized by category, and offers information about how each organization uses its donations, making it easy for students to find charities that align with their interests and values.

    Charity Intelligence researches Canadian charities for donors to be informed and give intelligently. The website posts free reports on more than 800 Canadian charities, as well as in-depth primers on philanthropic sectors like Canada’s environment, cancer, and homelessness.

    Research on how some careers aimed at doing good are far more effective than others. The site considers indirect ways of making a difference, such as earning to give, as well as more direct ways, such as scientific research or shaping government policy.

    A Framework for Selecting Causes

    As individuals, we are not able to help everyone in need and so we must make difficult decisions about where we use our resources. One way to think about choosing a cause is based on “doing the most good”.
